Star Fest 2017

Hill Country Astronomers showed off their stars

Enchanted Rock hit maximum capacity late Saturday evening as thousands of people came to view the Perseid Meteor Shower from a dark sky park.  Many of the visitors participated in our Star Fest, viewing celestial objects with members of Hill Country Astronomers, hearing and viewing presentations, viewing exhibits, and meeting with our partners.  The original date (December 2016) was rained out, but last Saturday the weather cooperated with clear skies until very late.  In the photo above, Bill Wren from the McDonald Observatory explains the dark sky program to visitors.
